Summer Pool Care

Summer is the best, full of backyard barbecues and refreshing poolside gatherings! At Aqua Pool & Patio, it’s our absolute favorite season but along with the peak use of your pool comes a few additional pool care responsibilities:

High Traffic

All those eager swimmers can introduce a variety of dirt and debris into your sparkling clean water. From makeup to sunscreen, body oil to additional dirt, summer often signals an uptick in use and therefore the need for more stringent pool care.

Summer Storms

There’s nothing like a beautiful summer rainstorm but while enjoyable, these occasions can present new swimming pool considerations. Rain and runoff can encourage excess organic matters like leaves, pollen, leaves, and fertilizers and even insects to get into your pool and ruin your delicate water chemistry.

Adjusting Pump Schedule

While staying on top of regular pool cleaning tasks is a must, you should also adjust your pool pump hours to run longer in the summer. This can help circulate your water and diminish dirt and debris in your pool. We also recommend that you run your pump at least one hour for every ten degrees of the outside temperature.

Test Frequently

During the warmer months with longer days and more swimmer traffic, it is important to test your water chemistry frequently. You may need to use more chlorine than usual to keep up with this season’s challenges!

At Aqua Pool & Patio, we want you to make the most of your pool for yourself, your friends and your family. If you have any questions, we are here to help make this summer your best swim season yet.
